Beyoncé and Jay-Z show off baby Blue Ivy Carter
Singer Beyoncé and her husband Jay-Z have revealed the first pictures of their baby daughter Blue Ivy Carter in a set of intimate family shots.
Public exploitation is also very unpleasant. Why do they want to have people ogle their child if it not seeking publicity for themselves? Their baby is not in a position to be able to object to its famous parents using it for their own personal gain. Cynically- how much are they charging for the photos? Yes. Judgemental.
The couple posted five pictures on the social networking site Tumblr to reveal their new daughter to the world.
They show the newborn, who already sports a full head black hair, being cuddled by her beaming parents in an intimate moment of family life.
Beyoncé, whose married name is Carter, gave birth to Blue Ivy a month ago at a private clinic in New York.
In a message accompanying the pictures on Tumblr, the couple said: "We welcome you to share in our joy. Thank you for respecting our privacy during this beautiful time in our lives."
The message was signed by "The Carter Family".
Beyoncé, 30, and her rapper husband, 42, have been at pains to shield their daughter from the public glare since she was born.
They have also shunned the popular celebrity trend to sell pictures of their first born in lucrative magazine deals.
Instead they published the pictures at no cost on the internet. Mariah Carey and Nick Cannon revealed pictures of their twins in the same way last year.
The images show each of the parents tenderly holding the youngster along with two portrait pictures of the baby. A fifth picture shows the baby's tiny hand gripping her mother's fingers.
